DC contacts, commonly referred to as direct current contacts, are essential components in electrical systems and devices designed to establish or interrupt the flow of electrical current in a circuit. These contacts are typically used in switches, relays, and other control devices to control the operation of electrical equipment and machinery. Unlike AC (alternating current) contacts, DC contacts are designed to handle the constant and unidirectional flow of electrical current, requiring specific construction and material considerations to ensure reliable and efficient performance.
These contact blocks are suitable for installation only on non-magnetizable materials, with screws made of non-ferrous metal. The self-cleaning silver contacts are optimized for low switching frequencies and low currents/voltages. Gold-coated contacts (approximately 0.2μ) are also available, requiring less than 42 volts. The side screw connection (M3.5) accommodates a maximum of 2 conductors of up to 2.5 mm² each. The top plug-in connection (4.8 x 0.8 mm DIN 46247) offers additional versatility.
Multiple contact blocks can be stacked on top of each other and operated simultaneously, with plug-type terminals accessible only on the top unit. Shock protection to DIN VDE 0106 Part 100 can be provided for these contact blocks.
